State police were involved in a standoff that turned fatal Thursday in Johnsonburg. The incident resulted in an officer shooting and killing 40-year-old Jacob Nathaniel Grebbien, of Johnsonburg.
“All I can tell you is that there was a standoff resulting in an officer being involved in a shooting,” said District Attorney Beau Grove.
Details are slim while the incident remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police, the Elk County Coroner’s office and the Elk County District Attorney’s office.
“We understand the importance of something like this; it will take some time to get all the evidence together and conduct a thorough investigation,” said Grove.
“Right now we are just in the beginning stages of that investigation but once it is complete I will be releasing a statement regarding our findings.”
Court documents show that Grebbien was charged with felony terroristic threat with intention to terrorize another Aug. 8. The charges were subsequently dropped and the case closed, following his death.
