There were 33 additional cases of COVID-19 reported in the region as of Wednesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health
McKean County had 17 additional cases for a total of 3,555, Elk County had two additional cases for 2,818, Potter County had 12 more cases for 1,098 and Cameron County had two more for 293.
The health department confirmed that as of Wednesday, there were 2,597 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 1,164,216.
In McKean County, Bradford has had 1,143 confirmed cases and 222 probable; Lewis Run has had 140 confirmed and 335 probable; Kane, 366 confirmed, 97 probable; Smethport, 325 confirmed, 47 probable; Port Allegany, 247 confirmed, 34 probable; Eldred, 159 confirmed, 35 probable; Mount Jewett, 56 confirmed, 17 probable; Rixford, 43 confirmed, 6 probable; Duke Center, 40 confirmed, 7 probable; Derrick City, 23 confirmed, 5 probable; Turtlepoint, 16 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Rew, 25 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Cyclone, 21 confirmed, 8 probable; Gifford, 15 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Crosby and Ludlow, each 9 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable.
There have been 68 deaths in McKean County, 38 in Elk County, 23 in Potter County and 8 in Cameron County.
In the state, there were 2,172 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 480 patients were in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. In McKean County, there was one person hospitalized with COVID-19, none in Elk, and three in Potter, with one in intensive care.
The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per day is starting to come down, after peaking at 2,661 patients which is slightly below what it was at the height of the spring 2020 peak of 2,751 patients on May 3, 2020.
As for vaccines, McKean County has 7,811 partially covered and 7,608 fully covered; Elk, 2.049 partial and 11,021 full; Potter, 1,195 partial and 2,798 full; and Cameron, 300 partial and 1,533 full.
According to the CDC, as of Wednesday morning, Pennsylvania has administered first doses of vaccine to 50.9% of its entire population, and the state ranks 10th among all 50 states for first doses administered by percentage of population; 42.2% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated; and Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.
