The number of COVID-19 cases increased in all four local counties over the weekend.
With 31 new cases between Friday and Sunday, Elk County saw the greatest increase of the four counties, with a total of 540. The county has 440 confirmed cases, 100 probable and 3,888 people testing negative.
In McKean County, there was an increase of 20 cases, which brings the total to 464 with 405 confirmed, 59 probable and 6,601 negative. In Potter County, an increase of 16 cases brings the total to 215 — 187 confirmed, 28 probable and 1,863 negative — and in Cameron County, an increase of 1 case brings the total to 26 — 23 confirmed, 3 probable and 636 negative.
Cases in Elk County were found in the following areas: St. Marys, 234 confirmed, 25 probable; Ridgway, 57 confirmed, 15 probable; Johnsonburg, 52 confirmed, 13 probable; Kersey, 27 confirmed, 5 probable; Weedville, 24 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Brockport, 17 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Wilcox, 15 confirmed, 5 probable; Benezette, 6 confirmed; and Byrnedale, 1-4 confirmed, 1-4 probable.
In McKean County, this is where cases are: Bradford, 185 confirmed, 23 probable; Kane, 52 confirmed, 5 probable; Smethport, 40 confirmed, 5 probable; Port Allegany, 30 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Eldred, 22 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Mount Jewett, 15 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Lewis Run, 10 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Rew, 9 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Turtlepoint, 7 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Duke Center, 6 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Derrick City, 5 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Rixford and Gifford, 1-4 confirmed, 1-4 probable; and Crosby, Cyclone and Ludlow, 1-4 confirmed.
Here’s the distribution of Potter County cases: Coudersport, 76 confirmed, 14 probable; Shinglehouse, 28 confirmed, 5 probable; Galeton and Genesee, 24 confirmed; Ulysses, 12 confirmed; Roulette, 10 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Harrison Valley, 6 confirmed, 1-4 probable; Austin, 5 confirmed, 1-4 probable; and Mills, 1-4 confirmed.
Cameron County has, in Emporium, 20 confirmed and 1-4 probable; and, in Driftwood, 1-4 confirmed.
There were no new deaths reported in local counties over the weekend, so the numbers remain at 6 in Elk, 4 in McKean and 3 in Potter. No deaths have been reported in Cameron County.
As of Saturday, the Department of Health reported an additional 8,053 positive cases statewide for a total of 351,667.
There are 4,114 people hospitalized with COVID-19, and 864 of those are in the intensive care unit. There were 41 new deaths, for a total of 10,275 in the state.
According to the Department of Health, the 14-day moving average of the number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 2,300 since the end of September.
During the week from Nov. 20-26, Pennsylvania had an overall percent positivity rate of 11.7%. During that time, Potter County had a rate of 18.7%; Cameron County, 12.7%; Elk County, 10.1%; and McKean County, 8.7%.
There are 16,392 people with a positive viral antigen test who are considered probable cases and 639 people with a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure. A total of 2,804,464 people have tested negative to date in Pennsylvania.
There are 34,592 residents of nursing and personal care homes who have had COVID-19, and 6,582 employees of nursing and personal care homes who have had the disease. About 14,198 health care workers have had COVID-19.
