The 133rd year of the Women’s Literary Club began with a luncheon at the Pennhills Club.
A PowerPoint presentation of the scrapbook was available. Luncheon and decorations were arranged by Gisele Magnella and her committee. Ginny Durst gave an invocation.
Wade Robertson, a writer of the Bradford Era and the Olean Times Herald, presented the program. Robertson, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, has won many writing awards. He has published a book and has been published in six countries. His father inspired him early with Tarzan comics. He stressed free agency — the right to choose the written word — reflecting human experiences and emotions. He has been a lifelong reader of various genres. He has written poetry, describing emotion as a difficult task, explaining, “Emotion should swell the heart.” Robertson read and emotional tribute to his late wife — the love of his life.
The club also held a remembrance of past members during the meeting.
Patti Niedich read the club’s correspondence, including thank yous from scholarship recipients and a thank you from Ingrid Fokstuen.
Judy Yorks presented the 2020-21 budget. Karen Ostrum reviewed upcoming programs.
