A LITTLE LATE: 100 years ago on Aug. 18, the 19th Amendment was ratified, giving women the right to vote nationwide. We may be a little late, but we felt it was noteworthy nonetheless.
First Lady Melania Trump hosted the launch of the Building the Movement Exhibit: America’s Youth Celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House.
To mark the centennial, buildings and landmarks across the country, including the Department of the Interior Building, the White House in President’s Park, and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse in Cabrillo National Monument, were all illuminated in purple and gold, the colors of the women’s suffrage movement.

TRAIL LESS TRAVELED: The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce their new Trail Less Traveled Photo Contest that runs September through November. Finalists’ photos will be posted online in December, with the four entries receiving the most votes winning the following cash prizes: 1st Place $100, 2nd Place $75, 3rdPlace $50, and 4th Place $25.
