One additional positive case of COVID-19 has been reported in Elk County, bringing that county’s case count up to 39.
Of that, 30 have been confirmed cases and 9 have been probable cases. There have been 1,673 negative tests.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported as of Sunday that there were 800 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 107,425.
While Elk County’s count rose by 1 case, other local counties stayed the same. McKean County reported 26 positive cases, 18 of which were confirmed and 8 which were probable; Potter County had 20 positives, 17 of which were confirmed and 3, probable; and Cameron County has had 5 confirmed cases.
McKean County has had 2,871 negative tests, Potter County, 704, and Cameron County, 321.
Cameron County has had the fewest positive cases in the state, followed by Forest County at 7. Those are the only two counties in the single digits. Only a few counties remain below 20 positive cases — Sullivan at 10 and Warren at 14.
Nine counties remain below 50 positive cases: Cameron at 5; Forest at 7; Sullivan at 10; Warren at 14; Potter at 20; Fulton at 21; McKean at 26; Tioga at 34; and Elk at 39.
Eighteen counties remain below 100 positive cases, including Jefferson at 51; Venango at 55; Wyoming at 56; Clarion at 72; Bradford at 75; Snyder at 87; Montour and Mifflin, both at 91; and Greene at 98.
Nineteen counties are over 1,000, while Philadelphia County remains the hardest hit at 24,955 positive cases.
According to the health department, the number of tests administered within the last 7 days between July 19 and July 25 is 156,316 with 6,384 positive cases. There were 17,542 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., July 25. These results represent the total number of tests administered.
There are 7,118 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 4 new deaths reported. “As the state has put in place new mitigation efforts to offset recent case increases, we must renew our commitment to protecting against COVID-19 by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and following the requirements set forth in the orders for bars and restaurants, gatherings and telework,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. “Pennsylvania has been a model for the country on how to reopen effectively using a careful, measured approach. However, we know the virus has not gone away as we see cases rise, so we must work together to stop another surge.”
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
There are 641 patients who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure, which are considered probable cases and not confirmed cases. There are 1,028,776 patients who have tested negative to date.
