An additional 625 positive cases of the novel coronavirus were confirmed as of midnight on Thursday, bringing the state total of COVID-19 cases to 70,042.
There were also 108 new deaths due to the virus, the Department of Health announced. There have now been 5,373 COVID-19-related deaths in Pennsylvania.
There were no changes locally. McKean County remains at 12 positive cases, seven of which are confirmed in the Kane area while between one and four are confirmed in the Bradford area. Both of those spots have between one and four probable cases, while Duke Center also has between one and four probable cases.
Probable cases are not included in positive case counts.
Cameron County still has two cases, Potter County has four and Elk County has six positive cases.
All four of those counties move to the green phase on Friday.
“As Pennsylvania continues to move forward in the process to reopen, we need to remember that the threat from COVID-19 has not gone away,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said in a press release. “As counties move into the yellow and green phases, we must take personal responsibility to protect others. Wearing a mask, continuing to maintain social distancing, and washing your hands frequently are all steps we can take to help protect others, including our most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, our essential workers and our healthcare system.”
