Zonta Club of Bradford challenged 16 other organizations to join them in the 16 Days of Activism challenge by donating items to the Victims’ Resource Center at the YWCA. The challenged began Monday, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and will end Dec. 20, Human Rights Day.
Thirty-six percent of all U.S. women report experiencing intimate partner violence including rape, physical violence and/or stalking. Worldwide up to 50 percent of sexual assaults are committed against girls under the age of 16. Worldwide more than 700 million women alive today were married as children below the age of 18. One in three were married before 15.
