EMPORIUM — Olkosky-Jessop American Legion Post 194 in Emporium hosted the American Red Cross Bloodmobile on Thursday with 29 productive donations.
This was less than the last drive, which had 39 productive donations, but organizers are hopeful there will be more donors on the next drive Dec. 12.
Betty D. Allen was the big donor of the day because she made her 13-gallon milestone. Allen has given 104 times in her life so far. Kristin Martuccio also hit a milestone, reaching her two-gallon donation, which is 16 times of giving blood.
There were two “double donors”: Arnie Hayes and Teresa Genaux, who also donate plasma at the bloodmobile.
On the crew from Buffalo, N.Y., were Supervisor Glenn Kraebel, Darryl Sadkowski, Rahel Berhane and Rhonda Snow. Local volunteers were Joanne Andrus, Celina Housler, Barry Sarick, Sandy Shields and Mary Greif.
The next American Red Cross Blood Drive in Emporium will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 12. All blood types are needed, and all people are welcome.
