SMETHPORT — A man accused of assaulting a female at his Port Allegany home was found guilty of two of the three counts against him at a trial Tuesday in McKean County Court.
Jacob J. Tarr, 26, whose address is now listed in court records as Allegany, N.Y., appeared for a one-day jury trial before President Judge John Pavlock.
Tarr was convicted of simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor, and summary harassment, said District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer. He was acquitted of a charge of indecent assault, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Tarr will be sentenced at 1 p.m. Sept. 26, Shaffer said.
Court records filed at the time of Tarr’s arrest alleged that on Aug. 24, 2018, a female arrived at his home, and they had a social conversation that became a physical altercation.
Records indicate that misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and unlawful restraint were withdrawn before the trial date.
