Bobby leads ECC to 65-0 rout of Cameron County

ST. MARYS — Elk County Catholic’s Stephen Bobby scored three touchdowns, kicked a 28-yard field goal and converted seven of eight kicked extra points to anchor the Crusaders’ 65-0 victory over Cameron County in their District 9 League small school division football game Friday night.

Bobby opened the winner’s scoring on a 6-yard run and with 14 seconds left in the stanza split the uprights with his field goal. He converted three kicked extra points as well.

The Crusaders also scored on a pair of punt returns in the first quarter. Jon Wittman returned a kick 48 yards and Hunter Cashmer ran his kick back 53 yards to give ECCH a 24-0.

In the second period Bobby found the end zone on runs of 10 and five yards and successfully booted both of those PAT attempts through the posts.

Wittman also scampered 33 yards for a touchdown and Lane Dellaquila shook free from 21 yards out for his six-pointer. Bobby converted one of the two PAT kicks to give the Crusaders a 51-0 lead at halftime.

ECCH finished off its 4th win of the season with a pair of third quarter touchdowns.

Sam Kaul returned the second-half kickoff 74 yards for a score and then broke free from 77 yards out for the final TD of the night. Kicked PATs by Stephen Bobby and Brennen Klawuhn put the finishing touches on the win.

The Crusaders (3-1 South, 4-2 overall) travel to Clarion-Limestone next Friday, while Cameron County (1-3 North, 1-5 overall) hosts unbeaten Smethport.
