NTL: Coudy wins big; OV, O-E, PA also win

COUDERSPORT — Coudersport dropped 44 points in the second half on their way to routing Smethport 81-39 for their NTL-best 13th league win of the season on Friday.

Shaelyn Black led the Falcons with 23 points, and added a team-high eight rebounds. Sarah Chambers hit three three-pointers and had seven assists for Coudy.

Abbey Woodard led the Lady Hubbers, who held tough with Coudersport in the first half, with 18 points.

Smethport (5-12 overall, 4-9 NTL) returns to play on Tuesday against Cameron County.

After losing to Otto-Eldred last Saturday, Coudersport took care of business this week, winning all three of its games — including Wednesday’s rematch against the Lady Terrors. Coudy (17-3,13-1) is off until next Thursday against Cameron County.

    Oswayo Valley 45, Austin 33

SHINGLEHOUSE — The Lady Green Wave overcame an early deficit with a big second quarter to defeat Austin on Friday.

After trailing 10-5 after one, OV outscored the Lady Panthers 16-3 in the second quarter and never looked back.

Shayla Bickel led the way with a game-high 27 points for Oswayo Valley.

Jordan Brewer (19 points) and Shea Setzer (11) both finished in double figures for Austin.

Oswayo Valley (6-12 overall, 2-10 NTL) visits Otto-Eldred on Tuesday. Austin (0-17 overall, 0-13 NTL) will host Port Allegany on Tuesday.

    Otto-Eldred 46, Cameron County 41

EMPORIUM — A second-half rally by Cameron County fell short as Otto ended the Lady Red Raiders’ six-game winning streak on Friday.

After trailing 30-15 at the half, Cam County outscored the Lady Terrors 26-16 in the second half but couldn’t make up enough ground by the end.

Camryn Thomas and Ali Cousins led Otto-Eldred with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Kaelee Bresslin led Cameron County with 13 points, while Alyvia McKimm (12 points) and Amily Schatz (nine points, 11 rebounds) also played well.

Both teams will be in action on Tuesday: Otto-Eldred (17-2 overall, 12-1 NTL) will host Oswayo Valley, while Cameron County (9-11 overall, 9-5 NTL) visits Smethport.

    Port Allegany 47, Galeton 30

PORT ALLEGANY — The Lady Gators played stout defense on Friday, holding Galeton to just eight points in the first half en route to an important league victory.

Cailey Barnett was the game’s high scorer for Port A with 20 points.

“Tonight was our Senior Night,” Gators coach Jason Luther said. “It was a great win for our seniors.”

Makaya Shadle led Galeton with 15 points.

Port Allegany (6-10 overall, 4-7 NTL) hosts Northern Potter on Monday. Galeton (9-9 overall, 5-8 NTL), meanwhile, is back in action today when the Tigers host Bucktail.
