Barktoberfest was held Saturday at the McKean County SPCA, and the pups couldn’t have been happier.
The event provided an opportunity for the public to come meet the dogs that are available for adoption.
The energetic dogs were given the chance to stretch their legs, and some took full advantage of it. They jumped with joy and tugged at their leashes, and the participants catered to their desire.
There were dogs of all sizes. Some dogs were big enough to give the impression they were walking the person holding their leash. Children were seen participating in the other activities provided, including pumpkin painting and mini golf. SPCA T-shirts were also given to participants of the Barktoberfest.
The event was free and open to the public and took place from noon to 4 p.m. Almost every dog had the chance to be walked. Others who were more fans of cats were allowed to go back into the cat kennel area and show the kitties love.
Christine Taylor, executive director of the McKean County SPCA, said that while Barktoberfest has come and gone, “It is never too late to come in adopt a furry family member, or even stop by to walk them around.”
For anyone looking to donate to the SPCA, Taylor is asking that only Purina brand is donated to help keep the animals on a consistent diet. For more information how to adopt or donate, contact the McKean County SPCA at (814) 362-8850.
