CHECKING OUT? September is National Library Card Sign-up Month, timed perfectly with children returning back to school. Sign yourself up for a library card to explore the different worlds within books from your living room couch while little Bobby or Susie is in school, or sign-up your children, so they may discover the treasures awaiting them at the local library — better yet, sign-up each member of the family!
Not only can owning one’s very own library card give a child the sense of obligation and responsibility, it can also foster the respect which comes with caring for things which belong to others. Library Card Sign-up Month also serves as an annual reminder for parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to let their imaginations soar. For more information on obtaining your very own library card contact the Bradford Area Public Library, 67 W. Washington St., via their website at https://www.bradfordlibrary.org/ or calling (814) 362-6527.
Share a photo of yourself with your newly obtained library card in September for the chance to win $100 during the American Library Association sweepstakes. Post to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #GetLibraryCarded. Entries can also be submitted by posting as a comment or wall post on the I Love Libraries Facebook page.
Don’t forget to tag the Bradford library!
GIVEAWAY. Attend any adult program at the Bradford Library during the month of September to receive an entry ticket in their Barnes & Nobles gift card giveaway.
