EMPORIUM — Fundraising efforts at the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library/Cameron County Public Library, located at 27 W. Fourth St., have yielded low numbers so far this season.
Librarian Yelena Kisler said, “Our goal is to raise about $5,000 but due to so many fundraisers going on, we are definitely below right now.”
The Donate and Say Happy Holidays fundraiser, which ends Friday, is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. It has been going on for close to 15 years and is one of two fundraisers that add funding to the library. The other is a spring benefit event, a membership drive.
Kisler noted, “Funding from fundraising goes toward programs; providing materials for reading, listening and viewing; building maintenance and repair; furnishings; and adding funds for future building needs.”
Forms to wish family and friends happy holidays are available at the library. Checks should be made payable to: Friends of the Library. Donations should be mailed to the library at 27 W. Fourth St., Emporium, PA 15834. For more information, call (814) 486-8011.
The Friends of the Library, formed in 1989, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and advocate for the library.
Upcoming events at the library, supported by the fundraising efforts, include STEM programs and workshops, Lego Club, the Dungeons & Dragons Club and many more.
On Monday, the library will have another jolly and festive, and free, Christmas STEM Program (Santa’s Science Workshop: Part Two), by the Community Education Center. The program is open to all ages and registration is not required to attend.
A reminder to those in the Dungeons & Dragons Club (D&D), it will meet at the Emporium Borough Building at 4:30 p.m. Monday, and return to the library for all future D&D sessions.
The last Lego Club session before the holiday break is from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Sessions resume Jan. 9.
