Linda Hedlund
KANE — Linda Lou Frost Hedlund, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on March 30, 2026.
Born in Franklin, Pa., on April 6, 1943, her family eventually relocated to Kane and lived on Park Avenue. Linda attended the West Side Elementary School and enjoyed ice skating in Evergreen Park. She contracted polio at an early age and was hospitalized for an extended period in Erie, Pa., spending some of that time in an iron lung.
Linda married her high school sweetheart, Jack Hedlund, whom she met on a church hayride. They both graduated from Kane Area High School in 1961, and they were married on Aug. 30, 1962. After moving around for college and employment, Jack and Linda settled back in Kane in the early-mid 70s and built the house which is their current residence.
Linda worked at the Kane Community Hospital for many years in the business office and for the director of nursing and she retired in 2002. After retirement, she worked part-time for the Allegheny Forest Alliance with her husband Jack. She earned an associate’s degree in accounting, and she enjoyed helping others with filing their income taxes. Linda loved antiques and was an avid collector of American art pottery and Depression ware from the early to mid-20th century including Fiesta, Roseville, and Laughlin Art China. She even had a piece assessed by Antique Roadshow.
Linda was an active member of the Homer Laughlin China Collectors Association (HLCCA) where she served as an officer, a board member and received numerous awards. She also was the editor for their newsletter and wrote numerous articles. Linda was a member of the Kane Community Methodist Church and various committees there, including, but not limited to, Church Women United, the Finance Committee and the First United Methodist District Committee.
Linda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack Hedlund; daughter Tammie (Bob) Hannon of Bradford, Pa.; Tim (Christine) Hedlund of Aliquippa, Pa.; and Tania (Sean Kielty) Hedlund of Solebury, Pa.; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Leslie (Jamie) Frost Hathcock.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jack R. Frost and Helen R. (Chilcott) Frost; her brother, Jack C. Frost and his son, Lance Frost; and a grandson, Bryan Hannon.
