Janice Stromberg

PORT ALLEGANY — Janice Stromberg, 81, of Port Allegany passed away surrounded by the love of her family Saturday (March 28, 2026).

She was born Oct. 6, 1944, in Elkland, the beloved daughter of the late Elmer and Lillian Webster Button. On Oct. 11, 1986, she became the devoted wife of Earl Stromberg, who survives.

Janice graduated from Elkland High School and attended Mansfield University. She worked in Port Allegany at Meacham’s Hardware and Port Allegany Head Start, and for more than 20 years with Nationwide Insurance.

Her favorite pastime was reading a book and spending many hours at the local library. She also had a passion for her dogs, especially Gracie. Janice enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in cooking for her family, making sure no one ever left her table hungry. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth and togetherness, where laughter and love were always present. Janice will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to her family and the love she so freely shared. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she held so dear. Janice was a member of the VFW Post 6391 Auxiliary in Port Allegany.

Janice was a proud and loving mother to her children with her first husband and forever friend, Richard Mulaski, Michael (Kimberly) Mulaski and Joseph (Jannie) Mulaski; and also her stepchildren, Dennis (Michelle) Stromberg, Suzie (Steve) Fox, Erica (Josh) Petruzzi and Travis Smith.

She was a cherished grandmother to Chesney (Mike) Ostrosky, Bradley Mulaski, Chandler Mulaski, Noah (Kylie) Mulaski, Allissa Mulaski, Delaney Stromberg, Gillian Stromberg, Hayley (Anthony) Vaimaona, Mauley Fox, Emma (Nolan) Norcross, Eli (Maci) Petruzzi, Thea Petruzzi, Iziah Petruzzi, Alexandria Norris Smith, Ginni Smith, Shea Smith, Everett Smith and Elaina Smith; and beloved great grandmother to Noah, Beau and Thomas, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Nothing brought her greater joy than her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her in-laws, Carl and Donna Stromberg, and her siblings, Jim Button and Judy Flynn.

A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at 1 p.m. May 23, 2026, at Port Allegany Veteran’s Memorial Home, Route 155.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Potter County Hospice or S.W. Smith Library.
