Bradford Golf records First Win and Loss of Season
The Bradford boys’ golf team defeated Kane 163 -166 Thursday. Medalist for the Owls was sophomore Jamin Bell, carding a 38.
“Jamin started off his first two holes with bogeys, then ripped off 6 pars and 1 bogey over the final 7 holes. Jamin played fabulous today. He was putting and driving the ball well,” Bradford Coach Travis Faulkner said. “Tarren Reese shot a 39 with 5 pars today. Tarren is so close to many Birdies and I expect him to continue to score low.”
Bradford’s third scorer was Mason Close with a 40.
“This was Mason’s 1st varsity match and what a way to start. His 4 pars and 5 bogeys was an excellent round. Rounding out our scoring was Daniel Marasco with a 46,” Faulkner said. “He had 3 pars and will look to drop his scores immediately. Maverick Smith 51 and Ben Woodhouse 54 had good rounds shooting better than they did last season.”
In JV action, freshman Adam Leet shot an impressive 44. His 2 pars and 5 bogeys led to a great round. Lucas Sokoly shot a 49 with a birdie for his 1st high school golf match.
Bradford also competed against St. Marys, dropping the match 156-163.
“I am happy with our play today. It has been awhile since we had two guys under 40 in the same match,” Faulkner said. “I expect us to continue to work hard in practice and improve on our scores.”
The Owls will travel to the Coudersport Invitational on Aug 11.
