Regional news outlets reported Tuesday that authorities in unmarked vehicles were investigating Taco Inc. locations in St. Marys, DuBois and Punxsutawney.
A group of workers milled about in front of Taco Inc. at 27 Main St. in Bradford that afternoon, just as the location closed and the employees pondered an unexpected day off. Asked to be identified as Miguel, the man who locked the door behind the group indicated to The Era that the workers didn’t know much.
Miguel said Bradford’s location employs about 12 people and he believed the issue had to do with paperwork, possibly taxes, and that he was not “scared of it.” He intended to report back the following day, as usual.
Speculation swirled on social media regarding the presence of authorities and whether it could be related to President Donald Trump’s repeated promises to deport millions of undocumented migrants.
“It is definitely ICE!” one Facebook user commented.
Another stated, “We’ll trade back 10 of them in exchange for 200 pajama pant bums that mooch off the system.”
No other activity had been observed at Bradford’s Taco Inc. on Tuesday, but connectradio.fm reported its staff had “observed as officers in unmarked vehicles investigated the DuBois location.”
Bradford City Police Chief Mike Ward stated he was unable to comment on the matter as it relates to the Bradford location and directed The Era to the state attorney general’s office in Harrisburg. Those inquiries were unreturned at press time Tuesday.
Bradford’s Taco Inc., one of several in western Pennsylvania, with locations in DuBois, St. Marys and Punxsutawney, opened on Main Street in spring 2023.
