The Women’s Literary Club met Nov. 1 at Hill Memorial Church, with President Carol Shannon welcoming everyone to the group’s meeting. Carol Ryan introduced her guest, Patty Stromberg, and she was welcomed by all.
Frannie Runyon introduced guest speaker Suzy Zirkle, who gave a program titled “Chair Exercise.” Suzy has various experiences in exercise. She was also a Zumba teacher and currently works at the YMCA in the Silver Sneakers exercise program two days per week. Suzy also presents chair exercise to various nursing homes and senior centers as well.
Suzy showed members various chair exercises as well as leg and arm exercises. Members were very impressed at the exercises Suzy presented. Suzy says seniors should exercise at least 20 minutes per day.
Carol Shannon read a letter by Zonta Club of Bradford. She stated that Zonta’s 16 Days of Advocacy campaign is looking for 16 community clubs to bring in hygiene, linen and health items for the YWCA domestic violence shelter. Members can bring their items to Togi’s at the next meeting.
Carol thanked the hostess and program committee for the decorations and for the speakers the club will have this year. Coming up will be card day at the Bradford Library on Nov. 8, with a luncheon provided.
The Nov. 15 program will be “Bright Alternatives and Women’s Resource Center.” This meeting will be held at Togi’s and will also be Philanthropy Day, with members donating money for a community resource.
Members were provided coffee, tea and various cookies after the meeting.
