The United Way of the Bradford Area announced its 2024 Annual Campaign, “Back to the Community,” has reached its halfway point.
With just a few months left to go, the campaign has raised significant funds for local nonprofits, but there is still much work to be done to meet this year’s goals.
As of Thursday, Bradford is at 26% of its $300,000 fundraising goal, Port Allegany is at 17% of its goal for $18,000, and Smethport is at 20% of its goal for $10,000. While progress has been made, the United Way of the Bradford Area continues to urge the community to come together and help reach these important milestones.
Funds raised through the Back to the Community campaign directly benefit local nonprofits, supporting programs and services that make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families throughout the region. From providing food and shelter to supporting educational programs and health initiatives, the generosity of donors ensures that critical resources remain available to those in need.
“Giving back is more important than ever,” said Sarah Lonzi, executive director of the United Way of the Bradford Area. “As we reach the halfway point of our campaign, we are reminded of how much our community has the power to do when we work together. Every dollar raised will stay right here in the Bradford area, helping those who need it most.”
UWBA invites community members to continue supporting the campaign by making a donation, organizing fundraising events or volunteering with local initiatives. Donations can be made online at uwbanews.com; by mail to P.O. Box 504, Bradford, PA 16701; on Venmo @UnitedWay-Bradford; by texting UWBA2024 to 53-555; or by calling the United Way of the Bradford Area at (814) 368-6181.
The annual United Way Soup Lunch will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22 at First Presbyterian Church for pickup or delivery with advance order required.
“This is always an event the UWBA staff and board of directors look forward to and with the donations of soup and baked goods from other local organizations, more of the money raised at the event will be able to go toward the 2024 Back to the Community campaign,” Lonzi said.
The local United Way will continue solicitation efforts through Dec. 31 and will then work until Jan. 31 making follow-ups and concluding the campaign.
