The Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS) Board of Directors recently elected two new members to the board that oversees Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital (OGH), both Kaleida Health facilities.
Carolyn Boser Newhouse and Jim Stitt Jr. will each serve full three-year terms.
Newhouse, a resident of Bradford, has been the executive director of the Bradford Area Alliance since 2018, where she leads strategic initiatives to enhance economic viability and resilience within the community. A seasoned entrepreneur, Newhouse has founded multiple businesses. She has previously served as deputy secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, a role appointed by the Pennsylvania governor. Prior to returning in 2018 from Washington, D.C., Newhouse served as team lead supporting 200,000 transitioning service members across more than 300 worldwide military installations. She earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science from University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (UPB) and an executive MBA from the University at Buffalo, N.Y. She has served the community through multiple boards including Pitt-Bradford Advisory Board, Leadership McKean, North Central PA Regional Planning & Development Committee, Northwest PA Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) and Team PA Foundation.
Stitt, a resident of Olean, was promoted to president/CEO of Cutco Corp. in 2017. He joined the company in February 1997 as a process control and quality assurance engineer. Throughout his time at the organization he advanced through the ranks eventually becoming president and CEO of Cutco Cutlery in 2013, and, later that year, he was named president and COO of Cutco Corp. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Dayton and a Master of Science degree in professional leadership from St. Bonaventure University. Stitt has served on several community boards including Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, Key Bank Western NY District Advisory Board, Leadership Cattaraugus and the United Way.
