PORT ALLEGANY — Anastasia Penick of Port Allegany brought home a first-place finish in restaurant service from the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania state competition held this week in Hershey.
Penick advances to compete in the national SkillsUSA event in Atlanta this June.
Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Students throughout the region traveled to Hershey and several vocational sites nearby to compete in a variety of competitions.
Additional Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center students competing were: Garry Strait, Otto-Eldred, information technology service; Lane Crawford and Levi Howard, Port Allegany, cybersecurity; Nicole Hockey (Cameron County), Maximos McGarvey (Port Allegany), Clara Jane Kuscienz (Otto-Eldred), Owen Erhard (Port Allegany), Richard Wojcik (Otto-Eldred) and Brody Mclnroy (Galeton), Quiz Bowl; Blake Cool, Cameron County, job interview.
“We are very proud of all our students who took extra time to prepare and compete,” Seneca Highlands representatives said in a press release.
SkillsUSA helps each student excel by providing educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education in the nation’s classrooms.
