SHINGLEHOUSE — For three local gymnasts — Laci Miller-Geiger, Anna Schuessler and Ashley Oswayo, their high school senior year competitive season is underway.
The trio are Class of 2024 teammates at G2 Gymnastics in Shinglehouse. The competition season that started in October and goes through May has already included podium finishes, new skills, memories in the making, and debuts of their senior leotards. All three gymnasts have qualified for State Championships.
Beginning at United States Association of Gymnastics (USAG) Level 2, gymnasts advance to compete in the next level only after earning the required combined score on all four events. Approximately half of all gymnasts in the United States are between 6-12 years old, and the number of gymnasts decreases in ages 13 and up. For gymnasts to continue the sport into high school becomes increasingly less likely.
High school student athletes have long been recognized for their participation in sports during Senior night. For these three gymnasts, this Senior recognition comes when they showcase their unique, custom-designed, bedazzled, and blinged “2024” competitive leotard.
