DuBOIS — An 18-year-old student at DuBois Area High School is accused of having two guns, a knife and several boxes of ammunition in his car on school property after allegedly threatening another student the day before.
The Courier Express newspaper reported that DuBois Area School Police charged Ryan Daniel Mancuso with terroristic threats, a third-degree felony; three first-degree misdemeanor counts of possession of a weapon on school property; and disorderly conduct, according to a criminal complaint filed at Magisterial District Judge David Meholick’s office.
Mancuso was arraigned Thursday and placed in Clearfield County Jail. Bail was denied, as Mancuso is considered a serious threat, according to online court documents.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, a teacher alerted high school officials about a verbal confrontation between Mancuso and another student on Tuesday, stating her concern that a physical fight might happen. School officials tried to meet with both students that day, but both had already left at their usual dismissal time.
Wednesday morning, school officials met with the other student who reportedly said Mancuso had made threats and that he had weapons in his car.
Authorities said a search of the car produced a .308-caliber Winchester rifle, a .22-caliber Savage rifle, boxes of ammunition and a utility knife.
Mancuso has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 29.
