BOSTON (TNS) — The Democrats’ relentlessly negative campaign strategy for winning the midterms may come with a cost in 2024, damaging their prospects for keeping the White House.
“Simply put, if Republicans win on Tuesday, we all lose,” said U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., in one of many alarmist emails sent out by Democrats on Monday.
“If they take control of Congress, it will be a disaster for the American people,” added a breathless U.S. Rep. Lori Trahan, D-Mass.
These dire warnings may come back to haunt Democrats in two years when all Americans go to the polls to elect a new president or keep Joe Biden.
By casting all Republicans as evil and dangerous to democracy, Democrats are essentially ruling out half of all American voters.
How does a Democratic candidate in 2024 go into a Republican-leaning state and try to win the voters’ support after insulting them repeatedly in 2022?
Democrats are actually deepening the division at a time they should be aiming higher — like Michelle Obama says.
Whatever happens on Tuesday, it’s still been a damaging election for Democrats even if they manage to hold power in the Senate. There has been a spotlight on Joe Biden’s disastrous presidency, inflation, crime and gas prices. Even so-called “extremist” Republicans have a chance to win.
Once again Democrats are miscalculating and showing how out of touch they are with average Americans. They refuse to reach across the aisle; instead it’s us vs. them.
How does that help them broaden their base in 2024 when they’re trashing half the country?
Democrats are moving so far to the left they are leaving the rest of the country behind. If they take a shellacking at the polls on Tuesday, they should take that as a sign that their strategy isn’t working.
They are betting that voters are going to be running away from Donald Trump and Republicans in two years, but that may not happen.
In reality, the country is craving a leader who can unite America — and that’s not Biden or Trump.
America is now hopelessly divided, thanks to Democrats and Republicans. Maybe that’s why 61% of registered voters in Massachusetts are independents. They want nothing to do with either party.
That fact should send a message to every politician running for office.
