KINDNESS: There are still eight days of challenges to accomplish for the Kane Kindness Challenge. Today’s challenge is to take a walk and pick up any litter along the way. Here are the remaining tasks on the list:
Dec19: Be kind online and offer positive comments on social media
Dec. 20: Drop off cleaning products and/or paper towels to the Kane Area Community Center.
Dec 21: Spend some quality time with someone you love… commit to putting your phone away
Dec 22: Be kind to yourself and think of 3 things you love about yourself
Dec 23: Make a list of things you are thankful for and show appreciation by reaching out to those special people who helped contribute to your list
Dec 24: Share the excitement of holiday by telling someone a favorite Christmas memory
Dec 25: Hug someone you love and celebrate His birth.
The YWCA Victims Resource Center would be happy to receive cleaning products or items for the food pantry — or you can drop off food items to the Salvation Army. The SPCA is always accepting food and toy donations, as well as towels and blankets.

RUDOLPH: In honor of Rudolph and the upcoming holiday, here are some facts:
— the character was created for the Montgomery Ward department store. A coloring book was created and nearly 2.5 million copies were given out the first year of Rudolph’s appearance.
— John May was one of Montgomery Ward’s catalog copywriters. He came up with the character and his brother-in-law, Johny Marks, came up with the song to go with it. The song came to life a decade after the character was created. Marks also wrote “Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree.”
