COUDERSPORT — An Austin man has been remanded to Potter County Jail on charges of felony fleeing & eluding and flight to avoid apprehension.
According to Coudersport-based state police, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2016 Nissan Frontier at 10:02 p.m. on Sunday on Cowley Hill Road in Portage Township, Potter County. The vehicle fled the scene and was pursued at speeds up to 100 miles per hour in a 55 MPH zone on Route 155, according to police.
The pursuit ended on Four Mile Road in Cameron County, at which point, state police said, Eric Shupe, 44, of Austin was taken into custody. In addition to the felony charges, Shupe is also facing misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and obstruction of justice, as well as multiple summary traffic offenses.
Reports indicate Shupe was arraigned and remanded to Potter County Jail in lieu of bail.
