HS Football Wrap: O-E notches first win; ECC falls to Redbank Valley

    Otto-Eldred 28, Cameron County 8

DUKE CENTER — Cameron County opened scoring but Otto-Eldred finished it, claiming a 28-8 victory Friday.

Cameron County’s Lathan Reed ran five yards for a touchdown at the start of the first quarter. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful, leaving Cameron County ahead 6-0. O-E’s Gavin Jimerson ran for a one-yard touchdown less than three minutes into the first quarter, and Chance Palmer raced into the endzone for a successful two-point conversion, putting O-E ahead 8-6.

The second quarter saw both teams relying on defense and preventing any more points on the scoreboard. In the third quarter, however, Otto-Eldred’s Ryan Love ran three yards for a touchdown, with an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt, making the score Otto-Eldred 14, Cameron County 6. The next score came at the 3:50 mark in the third, with Jimerson dropping a pass into Max Splain’s arms from 30 yards out for the touchdown. A safety and a 20-yard run by Jimerson put O-E’s final points on the board, while Cameron County claimed two points on a safety at the 4:40 mark to make the final Otto-Eldred 28, Cameron County 8.
