PORT ALLEGANY — After a 14-14 tie at the half, Keystone used a productive third quarter and a final score in the fourth to eke out a 36-30 win over Port Allegany Friday.
Port Allegany opened scoring with a 55-yard run by Noah Archer at the 10:02 mark in the first quarter. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful. The Gators used a successful 58-yard pass from Drew Evens to Archer and a pass from Evens to AJ Wiley for another touchdown and a successful two-point conversion, putting Port Allegany ahead 14-0.
Keystone’s response was a 13-yard pass from Bret Wingard to Zander Mchenry for a touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion, run in by Wingard himself 15 seconds into the second quarter. The score was 14-8.
Keystone’s next score came at the 9:07 mark, as Kyle Nellis raced 97 yards for a touchdown. The PAT was unsuccessful, leaving the score a 14-14 tie.
Keystone opened scoring as Wingard scooted one yard into the endzone with 10:34 on the clock in the third. The unsuccessful two-point conversion left the score 20-14 in Keystone’s favor.
Port Allegany scored as a 38-yard pass from Evens found Archer, followed by a successful Evens-Archer connection for the two-point conversion as well, making the score Gators 22, Keystone 20.
Keystone’s Wingard ran for another one-yard touchdown with 2:14 left in the third, and the QB found Steven Shetler for a successful two-point conversion, giving Keystone a 28-22 edge.
Port Allegany fought back, with Archer racing 53 yards for a touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter. Moses ran for a successful two-point conversion as well, making the score 30-28 in Port Allegany’s favor. However, Keystone rallied for the final word with 2:21 left in the fourth quarter, as Wingard found Nellis on an 82 yard pass and dropped a pass into Shetler’s arms for a successful two-point conversion as well, allowing Keystone to go home with the victory.

BROCKWAY — Smethport improved to a 2-0 with a 35-19 victory over Brockway Friday.
“It was a gutsy performance by our kids tonight. I was happy with how we started the game and weathered the storm from Brockway and were able to finish strong,” said Smethport coach Adam Jack. “We got a big push up front from our offensive line when we needed them, especially in the fourth quarter to close out the game.”
Smethport’s Ryan Mason opened scoring in the first quarter with a 57-yard touchdown.
The Hubbers are home Friday, hosting Port Allegany.

ST. MARYS — Elk County Catholic claimed a 13-12 victory in a defense-heavy game Friday against Coudersport.
Coudersport’s Dylan Kelly found the endzone on a one-yard carry in the second quarter. The PAT was blocked, leaving the score at 6-0. ECC responded with a three-yard run by Ben Reynolds, with 30 seconds left in the half. The PAT by Nick Cherry was good, putting ECC ahead 7-6. ECC added six points on a 53-yard touchdown run by Reynolds, with an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt. The score was 13-6.
Coudersport attempted to tie up the game in the fourth quarter, as Gavyn Ayers battled two yards and made it into the endzone with 1:33 to go in the game. His two-point conversion run, however, was unsuccessful, making the final score ECC 13, Coudersport 12.

EMPORIUM — Cameron County opened scoring less than a minute into the second quarter on a 36-yard pass from Maddox Baughman to Dylan Baney. The two-point conversion run by Lathan Reed was good, putting them at an 8-0 advantage. Bucktail rallied for a touchdown at the start of the third quarter, as Dylan Cross found Zack Pick on a 26-yard pass. The PAT was no good, making the score Cameron County 8, Bucktail 6.
Bucktail took the lead on a 5-yard run by Conner Mason, Mason’s two-point conversion run attempt was unsuccessful, however, so Bucktail gained a 12-8 advantage.
Cameron County responded with a six-yard pass from Baughman to Reed and a successful two-point conversion on the same combination, putting the Red Raiders ahead again, 16-12.
Cameron County’s final score came at the 8:33 mark in the fourth quarter as Reed raced 11 yards to the endzone. The PAT was blocked, giving Cameron County the lead 22-12. Bucktail’s final points came on a 26-yard pass from Cross to Brody Pentz for the touchdown. A two-point conversion attempt was successful as Cross found Braylon Frantaski, but Cameron County came away with the win, 22-20.
