The Bradford Area Alliance has announced the launch of this year’s “Harvey L. Golubock Business Competition – the Spark to Fuel Your Business.”
Applications are now being accepted. Applicants will vie for up to $20,000 in funding to grow a business locally. Do you have the next great idea? Whether it is a new app, a new product, a new store, a consulting business, or perhaps a seasonal business, the Bradford Area Alliance wants to help you make that idea a reality. The competition is open to anyone who would like to open a new business in the area, as well as any existing business that is interested in expanding into a new venture.
“The response to last year’s competition demonstrated that a strong spirit of entrepreneurism exists in our community. Anyone thinking of starting their own business is encouraged to reach out to us early in the process,” said Carolyn Boser Newhouse, executive director of the Bradford Area Alliance. Interested parties should visit www.BradfordAreaAlliance.com for more details. Interested parties are asked to fill out the online contact form and then submit a high-level plan by Sept. 30th. Finalists will be announced in early October. Finalists will be asked to submit a completed business plan and will participate in a Pitch Event (similar to “Shark Tank”) being held on Oct. 21st, 2021. This event is open to the public.
This year’s competition is possible through sponsorship and support from the Blaisdell Foundation, Halloran Philanthropies, and Northwest Bank. Brian Fernandes-Halloran said, “Following the first competition last year, I placed a bright star on my calendar for this year’s competition. It is an event that, at its core, is fueled by the creative ideas of local entrepreneurs. This makes the process exciting and unpredictable in the best way. What we can predict based on last year’s competition, is a team effort to help innovative ideas take root in Bradford. I know my father, Harry Halloran, CEO of American Refining Group, found great inspiration from the can-do spirit of Bradford.”
With plans for a year-after-year competition in order to grow new jobs in our area, the “Harvey L. Golubock Bradford Business Competition Fund” has been established at the McKean County Community Foundation (MCCF) to honor Golubock. Additional information regarding this new fund can be obtained by calling the MCCF at 1-844-238-2289.
