SMETHPORT — A woman accused of fleeing from police was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to a term in state prison.
Kacie M. Butler, 30, will serve four months to two years in prison with credit for 19 days of time served for a charge of flight to avoid apprehension.
Butler pleaded guilty March 11 to allegations that on July 29, 2019, she traveled through the commonwealth to avoid apprehension on a felony warrant; she fled in a vehicle on Slack Hollow Road, Eldred, then she exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Also in court, Melissa A. Smith, 31, of Bradford, was sentenced to 40 days to 18 months in McKean County Jail and ordered to pay $10,039.31 in restitution for a charge of access device fraud. Smith pleaded guilty Feb. 18 to allegations that between Jan. 16 and May 4 in 2020, she used two debit cards belonging to another person to make purchases that exceeded a value of $10,039.31.
A guilty plea agreement that called for a probationary sentence was contingent upon her paying restitution in full prior to her sentencing. Smith is waiting for a tax return that she said will cover restitution.
Smith is a different person than McKean County Treasurer Melissa Jo Smith, who has a similar name.
Loriann M. Frappier, 40, of Port Allegany, will serve one to five years in state prison for a charge of DUI-controlled substance with a sentencing enhancement for having a minor child inside the vehicle.
Jeffrey P. Carney, 50, of Hazel Hurst, will serve six months to one year in McKean County Jail with credit for 242 days of time served and one year of consecutive probation and pay $726.38 in restitution for charges in two cases. He’s charged in one case with simple assault and in the other case with criminal mischief. On May 20, Carney pleaded guilty to allegations that on Jan. 13, 2020, at McKean County Jail, he hurt two corrections officers, causing a back injury to one of them. Then, on Dec. 28, 2020, he punched the window in a door at the jail, shattering it and causing a loss of $726.38.
Mathew K. Frederick, 30, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment. According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade, on July 11, 2020, Frederick touched the buttocks area of a juvenile and communicated that he wished she was 18. Frederick will be sentenced July 8.
Jeffrey H. Bradford, 29, of Bradford, will serve five years of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for charges of DUI-alcohol in two separate cases.
Mark E. Lopus, 65, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for charges of DUI-alcohol and controlled substance and summary charges.
Mark D. Pierce, 41, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of simple assault. Pierce pleaded guilty May 6 to allegations that on Sept. 11, 2019, he shoved a female into a wall, causing bruising to her arm.
Zachery T. Frontera, 26, of Kane, was sentenced to one year of probation after he pleaded guilty to a 2020 case. According to Shade, on Sept. 26, Frontera was with Robert Williams, and the pair entered a parking lot and were going through vehicles with the intent to steal items from them.
Charles O. Wofford, 39, of Jamestown, N.Y., will serve six months of probation for a charge of DUI-general impairment.
Court records indicate there were others who have appeared in McKean County Court recently.
Chanelle C. Keller, 26, of Bradford, pleaded guilty June 3 to charges of firearm not to be carried without a license and possession of a controlled substance. Lewis Run-based state police reported at the time of her arrest that on Feb. 5, police pulled over a vehicle she was in and determined that she was carrying a concealed firearm, despite not having a conceal and carry permit; she also allegedly possessed Vicodin pills that were not prescribed to her. Keller will be sentenced July 8.
Rikki L. Curcio, 29, of Bradford, pleaded guilty June 3 to charges of criminal trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge. Court records filed at the time of Curcio’s arrest alleged that she entered a vacant home on High Street, Bradford, and that she possessed drug paraphernalia. She will be sentenced July 8.
Anthony R. Bernardi, 22, of Ripley, N.Y., was sentenced Tuesday to seven to 14 days in McKean County Jail for summary charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass. On Oct. 29, Bernadi pleaded guilty to allegations that on Nov. 11, he damaged a window screen when he entered a Cyclone residence through the window.
