The Women’s Literary Club presented three scholarships for $1,000 each to Bradford Area High School seniors.
Alexandra Asp, daughter of Tom Asp and Julie Henneman, will be attending University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. She plans to get her degree in psychology.
While attending high school, Asp was inducted into the National Honor Society during her junior year. They have done fundraising activities for the SPCA. She played volleyball all four years in high school, earning three varsity letters. She was also the team captain in her senior year.
Asp volunteered at multiple downtown Bradford events, including the Garden Tour in 2019 and two Summer Music Festivals in 2018-19.
She also helped decorate and participate in the homecoming parade in 2018-19.
Asp has a real passion about human behavior and is excited to begin this new chapter in her life.
Liam Frasier, son of Jennifer Frasier, will attend University of Pittsburgh at Bradford where he will be majoring in Social Studies 7-12.
While attending high school, Frasier was in student council in grades 10 and 11. He was the treasurer in 10th grade. Frasier was the co-founder of the Mini School Club in 2018 and head of the grievance committee in 2019-20.
He was a church altar server from 2011 to 2019.
Frasier has always been told that teaching requires a very specific personality, and he believes that he could be that person.
Evan Stewart, son of Jamie Stewart and Kristy Nuhfer, will attend the University of Virginia. He plans to study mechanical engineering.
While attending high school, Stewart was on the high honor roll from 2017-present. He scored advanced on all three state-mandated Keystone Exams. He was an AP scholar with distinction in 2020 and was a QuestBridge National College Match finalist in 2020.
Stewart participated in the Bradford Marching Owls, brass captain in 2020, pep band and pit orchestra. He is a member of the Key Club in 2019-20 and created the design for the 2020 PADCON T-Shirt. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Stewart was very active volunteering in the community. He helped the SPCA, Kiwanis Kapers, BAHS Blood Drive, ELF Fund, Hill Memorial craft event and aided the Ecumenical Home with an annual event in 2019.
Stewart hopes to work on mechanical designs in biomedical equipment.
