Wilcox man to serve prison time for threats, resisting arrest

SMETHPORT — A Wilcox man was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to state prison for charges in two cases including terroristic threats and resisting arrest.

Todd H. Stahli, 26, will serve six months to two years in prison with credit for 181 days of time served for charges in two cases: terroristic threats and a summary charge in one case, and resisting arrest and loitering and prowling at night time in a second case.

On March 25, Stahli pleaded guilty to allegations that on Oct. 29 he threatened to kill a woman and punched her; then, on Nov. 14, he prowled around someone’s property and subsequently resisted arrest, requiring that a state trooper deploy a Taser on him twice before he could be taken into custody.

Also in court, Brian E. Conner Jr., 31, of Cyclone, was sentenced to 10 days to one year in McKean County Jail with credit for one day of time served for charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. Conner pleaded guilty March 11 to allegations that on July 19 he punched a woman in the face, causing extreme pain, and put his hand on her neck and squeezed.

James E. Haley, 58, of Bradford, will serve one to five years in state prison for a charge of DUI-controlled substance.

Crystal L. Beck, 27, of Kane, will serve five years of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for charges of DUI-controlled substance in two separate cases.

Emily S. Thrush, 23, of Bradford, will serve five years of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for a charge of DUI-controlled substance.

Geromia Schoonover, 38, of Coudersport, was sentenced to 45 days to 90 days in McKean County Jail with credit for 96 days of time served, and he is to pay $6,547.78, for a summary charge of harassment. Schoonover initially pleaded guilty Sept. 5, 2019, to a charge of simple assault for allegations that on June 1, 2019, while an inmate at McKean County Jail, he punched another inmate in the face and body about five times, causing injuries including a hematoma to his face. He was later allowed to withdraw his plea, and court records indicate he entered a new plea on April 15.

Aisha R. Alzubi, 25, of Bradford, will serve 10 days to six months in McKean County Jail for charges of DUI-controlled substance and alcohol, possession of marijuana and a summary charge.

Traci K. Frenz, 54, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for a charge of DUI-controlled substance.

Charity M. Husted, 39, of Port Allegany, will serve six months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for a charge of DUI-controlled substance.

Charles E. Carlson Jr., 39, of St. Marys, will serve six months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for charges of DUI-alcohol and summary charges.

Dedra P. Gresart, 53, of Johnsonburg, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of unstamped cigarettes. She will pay fines and court costs.

Two other people were sentenced recently in McKean County Court, too.

On April 27, Leonesha Brown, 27, of Buffalo, N.Y., was sentenced to 9 to 18 months in McKean County Jail and two years of concurrent probation for charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance in two separate cases.

Brown’s codefendant, Briana Rollins, pleaded guilty in December 2019 to allegations that the pair delivered crack cocaine on June 12, 2018, and June 21, 2019.

Brandy Simbeck, 48, of Kane, was sentenced April 30 to 65 days to one year in McKean County Jail and two years of concurrent probation for charges in two cases: in one case to a charge of terroristic threats, and in the other case to DUI-alcohol and a summary charge.

Court records filed at the time of her arrest in the threat case alleged that on Aug. 1 Simbeck, who was visibly intoxicated, went to a child’s birthday party at a neighbor’s house and was asked to change her attire to something more appropriate for a children’s party. She allegedly said that if the neighbor’s children and animals stepped foot on her property, she would shoot them; also, she was visibly intoxicated when police arrived and threatened police during transport to the police station.
