Eldred woman arraigned on robbery, theft cases

An Eldred woman has been arraigned on allegations that she took part in a robbery during a methamphetamine sale and that she took money from a restaurant tip jar.

Brittany D. Mitchell, 31, of 2B Cris Drive, Eldred, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge William Todd on charges in two separate cases.

Mitchell is one of three people charged in the robbery, with Anthony Reynolds of Erie and Douglas Walczak of Girard also facing robbery charges. Furthermore, the alleged robbery victim, Daniel Roach, is facing allegations that he responded by threatening Reynolds and Mitchell with a revolver.

In one case, Mitchell is charged with robbery, a second-degree felony; selling a noncontrolled substance represented as a controlled substance and possession with the intent to deliver a controlled or counterfeit controlled substance, felonies; criminal use of a communication facility and theft by unlawful taking, third-degree felonies. In the other case, she’s charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, third-degree misdemeanors.

According to the criminal complaint, state police interviewed Roach on Oct. 29, and he told them that he made plans over Facebook Messenger to purchase one pound of meth in exchange for $10,000.

On Dec. 11, Mitchell told troopers that the plan was for Reynolds to bring a pound of meth on Oct. 4 to her apartment in Eldred to meet Roach and exchange the meth for $10,000; however, the meth would be fake, the complaint stated.

Court records indicate Mitchell is accused of putting Roach in fear of immediate bodily injury during the drug deal, but no further explanation of that allegation is included.

Court records indicate Reynolds and Walczak both have trials pending for drug charges in Erie County, where they are incarcerated in the county jail. Neither has been arraigned on the Eldred robbery charges.

Meanwhile, Roach has a preliminary hearing on the firearm charges set for Monday.

In the misdemeanor theft case against Mitchell, the complaint states that at 7:48 p.m. Oct. 15, she stole $20 from the tip jar at Fox’s Pizza Den in Eldred.

Mitchell was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of a total of $76,000 bail, and preliminary hearings are set for Monday.
