SMETHPORT — A Bradford man will serve time in state prison for allegations that he had indecent contact with a girl, then threatened to kill the girl’s mother when she confronted him.
Joshua K. Green, 42, of Bradford, was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court before President Judge John Pavlock to 18 months to four years in state prison with credit for 21 days of time served. Green must register as a sex offender for his lifetime.
In August, a jury found Green guilty of charges of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, corruption of minors, indecent exposure and terroristic threats.
Court records filed at the time of Green’s arrest alleged that, on multiple occasions Green exposed himself to a girl under the guise of needing medical treatment for a urinary problem, and one occasion tried to put his hands down her pants. When the girl’s mother confronted Green about his behavior, he allegedly became enraged and threatened to kill her.
At the sentencing hearing, Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade asked Pavlock to consider the “serious gravity of these offenses,” the “predatory nature” of Green’s actions and the “lasting impact” his actions will have on the victim.
In his comments to Pavlock, defense attorney Christopher Martini said that Green has been living with his new paramour and helping take care of her child.
Court records indicate Green has been out of jail since he posted bail Aug. 28.
Martini said he understood why Pavlock should not allow Green to have contact with the victim, but he asked the judge not to prohibit contact with all juveniles, as Green has children.
Pavlock ordered that Green have no contact with the victim or the victim’s immediate family, and Green is to have no unsupervised contact with any juveniles.
Speaking on his own behalf, Green said he just wanted Pavlock to consider the fact that he’s trying to file an appeal for retrial. He explained there were “lots of things that could have helped me” that weren’t addressed at the trial.
Green indicated he was unhappy with many of the things said about him during the process, too.
“It wasn’t fair,” he stated, adding, “I am a good guy. People that know me, I don’t know how to put it.”
Green also said he had believed that he was going to have a retrial when he got out of jail.
