While some families contemplated pulling out the Christmas lights and trees early this year, Mother Nature did some decorating of her own Sunday night and she must’ve been dreaming of a white Christmas.
Bill Gartner, meteorologist from the National Weather Service in State College, said Bradford received 5.5 inches of snow while Kane averaged at around 6 inches from Sunday night into Monday morning.
Don’t expect that snow to stick around long though, as Gartner said “as the cold front moves away, the warm air will be coming in.”
While today is supposed to remain a bit chilly with a high in the upper 40s, the rest of this week will bring along some much appreciated sunshine, along with daytime temperatures in the lower 60s and nighttime temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Gartner explained that such seasonal fluctuations are “quite normal” around this time of year and we shouldn’t expect steady snow and frigid temperatures just yet.
“We won’t get solidly cold until late November to mid December,” noted Gartner. “It’s just like springtime, it takes time to change.”
