Many police officers, firefighters, military personnel, healthcare workers and veterans put their life on the line each day to help others in need. That’s why the Bradford Area Lions Club will be holding its fifth annual Hotcakes for Heroes breakfast event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Sunday at the Bradford Township Community Club on Irving Lane.
For all they do, the hometown heroes will be treated to a free full breakfast. Event co-chair Brad Ervin along with other volunteers will be cooking up and serving pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage. Beverages available include coffee and juice.
Members of the public can purchase a full breakfast for $10, whereas meals for children under 10 are $4.
Any money raised during the breakfast will go towards offsetting the cost of the supplies.
Event co-chair Dan McCarthy explained that they originally heard of the idea for a Hotcakes for Heroes event from a Lions Club in California.
“It’s very important to honor these people, especially right now with the COVID-19 situation,” said McCarthy. “We thought this would be a great way to celebrate these people who get up in the middle of the night to sacrifice themselves for others.”
