A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Christopher Duane Link for allegedly assaulting the same woman twice within three days, cutting her wrist the first time and stabbing her in the abdomen the second, police said.
For the first alleged assault, which happened July 25, Link, 30, of 153 Main St., Room 265, is facing charges of aggravated assault — extreme indifference to human life, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony; possessing an instrument of crime, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, simple assault with a deadly weapon and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors.
For the second alleged assault, which happened July 28, Link is facing charges of aggravated assault — extreme indifference to human life, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony; possessing an instrument of crime, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault with a deadly weapon and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 25, Link struck the female victim numerous times in the head, face and body, causing serious injury. She had injuries to her right eye socket, left ear, jaw, left rib cage and a laceration on her left wrist from Link cutting her with a knife. The female went to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment, but did not report the assault to police, the complaint stated.
Police said she still had bruising and swelling from that assault on July 28, when just before 9 a.m., police were called to an alleged domestic dispute at their residence at the OYO Hotel, formerly called the Holley Hotel. Police said the pair argued, and the female, afraid of being assaulted again, pulled out a pocket knife with a three-inch blade to protect herself, the criminal complaint stated.
Link attempted to grab the knife from her hand, and cut his own hand on the blade of the knife, but was able to pull the knife out of her hand. He then took the knife, screamed at the woman that he was stabbed, and then charged at her, stabbing her twice in the upper right torso, high in the rib cage, the criminal complaint alleged.
She was able to run from the building and once she was located, was taken by ambulance to BRMC, and then immediately flown out to UPMC Hamot in Erie where she was listed in critical condition. Prior to being flown out, she gave police a statement, which was recorded on body camera, about the two attacks, the complaint stated.
