Lady Owls get revenge on DuBois; Coudy rolls Wellsboro

DUBOIS — The last time the Bradford girls basketball team played DuBois, they let a halftime lead slip away behind some poor shooting and saw the Lady Beavers pull away for a 12-point win on their home court.

The Lady Owls weren’t about to let history repeat itself on Tuesday night.

Leading 34-21 at the half, Bradford also controlled the final two periods en route to a decisive 68-45 victory over D9 League rival DuBois.

The Lady Owls (9-10, 2-5) got another stellar offensive night from its dynamic duo of Hannah Lary and Erica Marshall. Lary netted five 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, while Marshall finished with 21. As a team, Bradford knocked down 10 3-pointers in the game and held DuBois to just three makes from long range.

“Great win for the girls,” Bradford head coach Bob Hannon said. “Girls fought and fought and fought and everybody contributed.”

After dropping their first five league games, the Lady Owls have won back-to-back contests in their quest to reach .500 on the season.

Olivia Johnson had 12 points for DuBois (11-9, 2-7) and Abby Guiher had 11.

Bradford will next try to enact revenge against Brookville, a team it lost to 56-39 earlier this season, on its home court Friday.

Coudersport coach Bob Tingley noted the contributions of seniors Stimaker, Mikayla Gunn, Arianna Watterman and Justice Wlasniewski over their careers with the Lady Falcons.

Coudy had initially jumped out to a 14-8 lead over Wellsboro (7-10), and then went on an 18-4 run that spanned the entire second quarter to take a commanding 32-12 lead into halftime.
