DUKE CENTER — Using a staunch second-half defense and increased scoring from Kayley Heller, Otto-Eldred overcame a three-point halftime deficit for a 42-28 win over Cameron County.
The Lady Terrors (12-4, 10-2) trailed 19-16 at halftime, but held Cameron County (8-9, 6-6) scoreless in the third quarter as part of a 14-0 run in the period to take a 33-19 lead into the fourth.
O-E then maintained that lead to finish the season sweep of the Lady Red Raiders, which Otto-Eldred topped 47-45 on Dec. 20 in Emporium.
The Lady Terrors’ offensive surge was keyed by Kayley Heller, who scored 11 of her game-high 13 points in the second half and added 10 rebounds for her second double-double in as many games.
“It wasn’t very pretty in the first half, so at halftime we decided to change up our defense,” said O-E coach Shawn Gray. “And Kayley Heller was dominant at both ends for us in the second half. She played great defense and got us going on offense.”
Bri Heller (3 points) pulled down seven boards for O-E, while point guard Katie Sheeler tallied seven points to go with her four assists, four steals and six rebounds.
Cameron County was powered by 10 points from Kaelee Bresslin, who has scored in double figures in each of the Lady Red Raiders’ last nine games, and 12 points from Mallory McKimm.
