EMPORIUM — If there were any jitters for Otto-Eldred freshman Katie Sheeler playing in one of her first big North Tier League games on Friday night, she sure didn’t show it.
After Cameron County tied the game on a 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds to play, Sheeler was fouled with nine seconds remaining.
The 5-foot-4 guard then calmly sank both of her attempts and the Lady Terrors hung on late for a 47-45 win over Cameron County Friday.
Sheeler had a game-high 20 points for Otto-Eldred (5-2, 3-1), including a 9-for-11 performance from the charity stripe in the final eight minutes.
The Lady Red Raiders (2-3, 2-2) took a double-digit lead early in the game before Otto-Eldred rallied back to trail by just two at halftime.
The game went back-and-forth from there, with the score knotted up at 32 heading into the fourth quarter.
Cameron County head coach Dave Sullivan was pleased with his team’s performance, particularly with how they responded after an uncharacteristically sluggish start to the year.
“Quite frankly we haven’t played good as a team so far this year,” Sullivan noted. “Really this is the first game that I thought we played well.”
Mallory McKimm hit three 3-pointers as part of her team-high 15 points and teammates Hailey Hilfiger (13 points) and Kaelee Bresslin (10) were also in double-figures.
Jade Spinney had 13 points for Otto-Eldred, which went 14-for-23 from the free-throw line as a team in the game.
