SMETHPORT — A Bradford man accused of allegations including theft and failing to follow sex offender registration requirements pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to charges in two cases.
Gregory P. Benavidez Jr., 26, of Bradford, entered a plea in one case to a charge of receiving stolen property and in the other charges of tampering with physical evidence, theft by unlawful taking and failing to verify address.
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said that Benavidez, who must register as a sex offender under SORNA, failed to verify his address. Also in that case, he took a flash drive that Bradford City Police wanted as evidence in an investigation, he took about $160 and change from a Uni-Mart in Bradford and he took $20 from a donation can that belonged to the family of a deceased person.
In the second case, Benavidez received stolen items valued at $750 including computer monitors, a flight simulator stand and cables, Shaffer said.
Benavidez will be sentenced Sept. 26.
