LEWIS RUN — Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:56 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Route 6 at its intersection with Route 46 in Keating Township.
According to Lewis Run-based state police, a car driven by Stacey R. Peterson, 40, of Little Valley, N.Y., was traveling north on Route 46, when it failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Route 6 and struck the front passenger side of a vehicle driven by Joseph J. Gibson, 73, of Lincoln University.
Peterson’s car then traveled through a traffic sign and sideswiped a telephone pole with its driver’s side, coming to rest in a yard. Gibson’s vehicle rolled onto the driver’s side in a ditch, police stated.
Both juvenile passengers in Peterson’s car were transported to John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., for treatment, police reported. A Bradford City Ambulance transported a 13-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries to a landing zone, where MedeVac 12 transported him to Buffalo, and a Port Allegany Ambulance took an 8-year-old girl who suffered minor injuries to meet Mercy Flight 7 for transport.
Peterson was transported via Bradford Ambulance to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, and Gibson, who suffered minor bruising to his knee, was not transported, according to police.
Peterson will be cited for failing to stop at the stop sign, police indicated.
The Smethport Fire Department and Port Allegany Police Department also assisted on scene.
