SALAMANCA, N.Y. — Fat bike, skinny bike, old or new, 10 speed or cruiser any bike will do. Bicycle fans are invited to grab family and friends, a favorite bike and a helmet to join Allegany State Park staff for a Family Bike Night in the park on July 26.
Visitors can demo a fat bike, learn about the local bike shops, bike trails and mountain bike groups such as Western New York Mountain Bike Association (WNYMBA) and Northern Allegheny Mountain Bike Association (NAMBA). They can get riding tips from certified bike instructors or just meet new people and families who like to ride bikes, too.
The picnic starts at 6 p.m. at the Beehunter pavilion. The charcoal will be hot and ready for anyone who chooses to bring something to grill.
At 7:30 p.m., there will be a group ride around Red House Lake. Younger riders will have a shorter route and receive a gift at the end of the ride.
Registration is not required. For more information, visit the Allegany State Park Facebook or contact the Environmental/Recreation Department as 716-354-9101 ext. 232 or AlleganySP@parks.ny.gov.
