GALETON — It was another gem in the circle for Cameron County’s Laila Smith.
But on Tuesday afternoon, it was the defense playing behind her that did the Lady Red Raiders in.
Despite Smith recording 14 of her 18 outs via strikeout, Cameron Co. committed five errors in the field and fell 10-4 in a Northern Allegheny League contest.
Of the 10 runs Smith allowed, just two were earned.
Galeton (10-6, 7-4) scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning to open the scoring and avenged an earlier 8-2 loss to Cameron Co. (9-8, 7-5) this season.
Jessie Evans, Maddie Sauley and Cara Parsell each had two hits for Galeton, with Sauley recording the Lady Tigers’ only extra-base hit.
At the plate for the Lady Red Raiders was three hits each from Taylor Lamont and Alyvia McKimm. Taylor Britton added a double.
Regan Fuller picked up the win for the Lady Tigers, striking out nine and allowing just eight hits in a complete game effort.
After starting league play 2-4, Galeton has rattled off five consecutive NAL victories.
Cameron County hosts Oswayo Valley this afternoon.
Otto-Eldred 16, Smethport 1, 4 innings
DUKE CENTER — Otto-Eldred drew 15 walks and sprayed six hits to roll past Smethport for its 10th double-digit victory of the season.
Reilly Raught led O-E’s offense with a triple and four RBI. Teammate Harlee VanScoter had a two-run triple while Gabby Nickerson doubled.
Emmalee Sheeler gave up just three hits, one walk and had two strikeouts in the circle for the Lady Terrors (16-2, 11-2).
Dani Nelson had a single for Smethport (0-15, 0-12) and teammate Lizzy Ruffner had a bunt single and a run scored.
Coryn McClain took the loss for the Lady Hubbers.
