A Kane man is in McKean County Jail after two alleged assaults on a woman.
Nickolas I. Leonard, 30, of 5926 Route 66, Kane, was arraigned Friday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on two counts each of strangulation, second-degree felonies; simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, summaries.
The criminal complaint states that around lunchtime on Feb. 13, Leonard was arguing with a woman, who ran upstairs to her bedroom and closed the door to get away from him; however, he followed her to the room, and, while she was holding the door trying to keep him out, pushed his way in, breaking the door.
He grabbed her throat and pinned her on the bed, choking her, according to the complaint. She reported to police that she felt her neck pop during the alleged assault. He let her go and left.
About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, he stopped by her apartment to talk. The talk turned into an argument, and he “grabbed her by the throat and pinned her down on a bench seat with such force that she could not breath,” the complaint stated. He “then picked her up by her arms and threw her to the ground hurting her tailbone.”
She ran upstairs while he was screaming, then he left, the complaint indicated.
Leonard is incarcerated in lieu of $30,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
