OLEAN, N.Y. — On Wednesday the YMCA of the Twin Tiers announced that Mary Burns will take on the role of executive director of child care services, effective Monday.
Burns brings over twenty years of YMCA experience as she moves to the area from West Chester, Pa.
“We are pleased to welcome Mary to our YMCA team,” said Barb Sweitzer, CEO, YMCA of the Twin Tiers. “Mary’s extensive background with the YMCA has groomed her for this position making her the ideal candidate for this leadership role.”
Burns earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Springfield College, St. Johnsbury Campus in Vermont.
She worked for the Greater Burlington YMCA from 1986 until 2015, serving as president and CEO from 2007 through 2015. She delivered services through 29 program centers, three branches, and a 125-acre resident camp.
Burns most recently served as senior vice president and chief development officer at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine in West Chester.
