COUDERSPORT— A free Night Sky tour is being offered at Cherry Springs State Park at 4639 Cherry Springs Road, Coudersport on Saturday.
The park is 12 miles from U.S. Route 6 in Galeton via West Branch Road.
Anyone may observe the night sky at Cherry Springs on his or her own without attending a stargazing program. All visitors should arrive before dark. Search for the Clear Sky Chart online for 48-hour forecasts about viewing conditions.
From 9 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday will be a Night Sky Tour at the park’s Night Sky Viewing Area. Park staff will take visitors on a laser-guided tour of the constellations and tell the legends and myths that surround these mysterious patterns in the dark sky. Following the program, park telescopes will be available for an up-close look at celestial objects. Pre-registration is required. This stargazing program will be cancelled if it rains or thunders.

People are welcome to bring a picnic supper and make use of the park’s picnic tables and charcoal grills near the Night Sky Viewing Area on Saturday or anytime.
Registration is not required to picnic at the park.
