RIDGWAY — A Brockport woman died in a house fire late Tuesday night in Elk County.

Terri Gustafson, 50, was found deceased on the second floor of the 36 Howard Road, Brockport home, Ridgway-based state police reported.

Police said the origin and cause of the blaze is still under investigation. They did not say if they believe it was accidental in nature or if any suspicious circumstances exist.

According to police, no one else was injured in the fire, which occurred at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday. The home’s other occupants, Donna Truesdale, 70, of Brockport, and Elizabeth Hetrick, 95, of Brockport, were able to escape.

U.S. Route 219 was reportedly closed in the area for a time while firefighters battled the blaze.
